Big danger to users, game is being played through WhatsApp calls, government issued alert

The risk of frauds through WhatsApp calls has increased significantly for the users. In view of this, the Department of Telecom (DoT) has issued an advisory for the users. In this, users have been asked to be alert from those WhatsApp calls which come from foreign mobile numbers. DoT said that users need to be cautious about incoming calls from numbers like +92-XXXXXXXXXX. In these fake calls being made in the name of DoT, users are being scared by saying that the number is disconnected or the number is being used illegally.

Complain on Chakshu
Cyber criminals are making such calls for financial fraud and theft of user data. DoT told users that it does not allow anyone to make such calls in its name. In such a situation, it is better for the users not to trust any such call. If you have received such a call by mistake, do not give your details to the caller under any circumstances.

The ministry has asked users to report such calls on Chakshu-Report Suspected Fraud Communications of Sanchar Sathi portal. This understanding of the users helps DoT a lot in preventing financial frauds and cyber crimes taking place through the use of telecom services.

Know Your Mobile Connections service is very useful
DoT said that users can check their mobile connection through Know Your Mobile Connections service by visiting Sanchar Saathi portal. If the user sees a mobile number taken without their knowledge, they can complain about it. In this, users can also give information about the number which is no longer in use.

Communication Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the government is continuously working to stop cyber frauds at three levels of Secure India Project – national, organizational and individual.
